Focus and Scope

Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS focused to publish high-quality articles dedicated to all aspects of the latest outstanding research, issues, and developments in the fields of social studies of education in a school.

The scope of this journal encompasses, but not limited to: Geography, Accountancy, Religion, History, Pancasila and civic education. This is a student subject in primary and secondary schools and this journal exists to provide research support related to the teaching-learning process and its environment in those subject areas.

Authors need to ensure that only original articles and short surveys can be considered for publication in the Faktor : Jurnal Ilmiah Kependidikan. More detailed information visit the author guidelines and policy of this journal.

Peer Review Process

Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS is a double-blind peer-reviewed Journal. This means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process. Submitted papers are evaluated by anonymous referees for contribution, originality, and relevance.

Reviewer selection is critical to the publication process, and we base our choice on many factors, including expertise, reputation, specific recommendations and our own previous experience of a reviewer's characteristics.

We check with potential reviewers before sending them manuscripts to review. Reviewers reserves the right to reject the script if the script review didn't match to the fields/expertise. Reviewers should bear in mind that all correspondences in this journal contain confidential information, which should be treated as such.

In general, the editor of Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS need two month to inform you about the results. Totally, peer review process estimated time consuming up to three months.

Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS is an open access journal. This journal provides immediate open access to every article on the principle that making research freely accessible to the public; It supports a greater global exchange of knowledge; and an invaluable way to boost the visibility and impact of research.

This also means that Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS it's free availability on the public Internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than that inseparable from gaining access to the Internet itself.

 

Publication Ethics

Author(s) duties

Authors on Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS should present an objective discussion of the significance of their research work as well as sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Authors also must ensure that their work is entirely original, and therefore wherever and whenever the work and/or words of others are used, all instances must be appropriately acknowledged. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Authors should not submit articles describing essentially the same research to more than one journal. The corresponding author should ensure that there is a full consensus of all co-authors in approving the final version of the paper and its submission for publication. The author(s) should inquire with the original copyright holder (usually the original publisher or authors), whether or not this material can be re-used.

Plagiarism, fraudulent, or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior are unacceptable.


Editor(s) duties

The editors of Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS will evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit. The editor does not use unpublished information in the editor's own research without the express written consent of the author. Whenever ethical complaints are filed concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper, editors must take reasonable action to ensure that proper compliance with ethical standards is restored. Submitted information and ideas must be kept confidential and cannot be used for personal advantage or gain. Editors should pass the final acceptance only after discussion with the other managing and co-editors and reviewers based on the compliance, originality, and quality of the article. It is the duty of editors to correct the articles if demand comes from authors. If needed, other appropriate action should be taken at the time of processing of the article. The editor should address and take sufficient steps about ethical complaints to the published data and/or methodologies. Further communications should be made to the corresponding authors.

The editor(s) should evaluate the manuscripts initially without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, citizenship, etc.


Reviewer(s) duties

All manuscripts received for review in Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS must be treated as confidential documents. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Any appointed reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript, or is otherwise aware that a prompt review will be impossible, should notify the editor and step down from the review process. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments so that authors can use them for improving the paper.

Conflict of Interest Statement

All manuscripts for original articles, editorials, comments, and erratum that are published on Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS accompanied by a conflict of interest disclosure statement or a declaration by the authors that they do not have any conflicts of interest to declare.

These includes:

  1. All financial and non-financial interests and relationships;
  2. Direct employment with a private sector entity (whether full or part-time), and service on private sector and non-profit Boards and advisory panels, whether paid or unpaid, and;
  3. All authors have participated in (a) conception and design, or analysis and interpretation of the data; (b) drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and (c) approval of the final version.
Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS will only publish articles after the author(s) have confirmed that they have disclosed all potential conflicts of interest.

 

Publication Fees

We are fully committed to advancing science at our university and also in the world; and for that reason, WE DO NOT CHARGE the author(s) either from the submission stage until their articles are published in the Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS. We look forward with the author(s), and also the reader(s) for all the goodness of the efforts we have made.

Handling Plagiarism

Plagiarism is presenting the words or ideas of someone else as your own without proper acknowledgment to the source. Revenue Sources

All costs arising from the management of the Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS are the responsibility of the Universitas Indraprasta PGRI (as a publisher).

 

Correction

In cases of serious errors that affect the article in a material way (but do not fully invalidate its results) or significantly impair the reader’s understanding or evaluation of the article, Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS will publish a correction note that is linked to the published article. The published article will be left unchanged.

 

Retraction

If the editor of Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS receives a complaint that any contribution to the Journal infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights or contains material inaccuracies, libelous materials or otherwise unlawful materials, the Journal will investigate the complaint. Investigation may include a request that the parties involved substantiate their claims.

In accordance with the "Retraction Guidelines" by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS will retract a published article if:

  1. there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g. data fabrication) or honest error (e.g. miscalculation);
  2. the findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission or justification (i.e. cases of redundant publication);
  3. it constitutes plagiarism;
  4. it reports unethical research, and;
  5. An article is retracted by publishing a retraction notice that is linked to or replaces the retracted article.
Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS will make any effort to clearly identify a retracted article as such. If an investigation is underway that might result in the retraction of an article Herodotus: Jurnal Pendidikan IPS may choose to alert readers by publishing an expression of concern.
