Abstract


Benchmarking Practices can get some benefit in making improvement necessary to reach the best practice for both parties. This research aims to determine the benchmarking role of English Education students of Muhammadiyah University Tangerang by attending the workshop and to determine students' responses to their English speaking skills through visit to Ahmad Dahlan University. This research uses a qualitative with case study to examine one of the campus events. The data were collected by observation the public speaking workshop which was attended by students from Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang, Ahmad Dahlan University, and lecturers and their staff. The research showed that the benchmarking used in this study includes identifying successful public speakers, analysing their skills and techniques, and providing guidance to students on how to incorporate these skills into their own public speaking. In other words, the results of the study indicated that the benchmarking approach was successful in boosting their confidence in public speaking.
