Abstract
Museum sebagai kuratorial lembaga kebudayaan memiliki peran penting dalam menyampaikan informasi sejarah dan identitas budaya melalui display benda-benda yang mengandung elemen visual yang bersifat komunikatif. Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) Museum Sulawesi Tengah menyajikan berbagai artefak dan informasi budaya yang sarat makna, tetapi belum banyak diteliti dari perspektif semiotika budaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dimensi visual komunikatif pada UPT Museum Sulawesi Tengah dengan pendekatan semiotika budaya untuk mengungkap makna simbolik yang terkandung di dalamnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif-deskriptif dengan pendekatan semiotika budaya, khususnya model semiotika budaya Peirce-Lotman yang mengkaji denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos dalam elemen visual. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, dokumentasi visual, dan wawancara dengan pihak museum dan pengunjung untuk mendapatkan pemahaman mendalam mengenai interpretasi visual yang terjadi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa elemen visual pada UPT Museum Sulawesi Tengah tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sarana informasi, tetapi juga sebagai media konstruksi identitas budaya lokal. Analisis menunjukkan adanya lapisan makna yang kompleks, mulai dari makna literal hingga simbolik yang dipengaruhi oleh konteks sosial-budaya masyarakat Sulawesi Tengah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pemahaman semiotika budaya dalam merancang komunikasi visual yang efektif di museum sebagai media edukasi budaya.
