Abstract


This aims to analyze the effect the use of earning methods and reasoning ability to mastery of mathematics concepts of students in SMP Negeri on Tangerang. The research method used experiments with the teatment design by level. The test statistic used is Anova Two Direction. Data about the variable of reasoning ability and mastery of mathematical concepts is obtained through direct written test to the respondent which is prepared by the researchers in the form of multiple choice questions. From the analysis results obtained that: (1) there is a significant influence of the use of learning methods to mastery of mathematical concepts, this is evidenced by the value of Sig = 0,000 <0.05 and the value of Fcount = 31.505; (2) there is a significant influence of students' reasoning ability on mastery of mathematics concept, this is proved by Sig = 0,000 <0,05 and Fcount = 33,997; and (3) there is significant interaction effect of learning method and reasoning ability to master mathematics concept, this is proved by Sig value = 0,022 <0,05 and Fcount = 5,491. The form of interaction is: (1) there is the influence of the use of learning methods to mastery of mathematical concepts in groups of students who have high reasoning ability; (2) there is influence of the use of learning method to mastery of mathematics concept in student group having low reasoning ability; (3) there is an influence of reasoning ability on mastery of mathematical concepts in groups of students taught using discovery learning method; and (4) there is an influence of reasoning ability on mastery of mathematical concepts in groups of students taught using conventional learning methods.
