Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the influence of self-efficacy and discipline together on understanding natural science concepts, determine the influence of self-efficacy on understanding natural science concepts, and the influence of discipline on understanding natural science concepts.
The research method used was a correlational survey. The sample was carried out on 85 MTs students selected randomly in the West Jakarta area using descriptive statistics, Pearson multiple correlation coefficient, coefficient of determination, and multiple linear regression analysis.
The research results show: (1) There is a significant influence of self-efficacy and discipline together on understanding natural science concepts. This is proven by the results of testing the hypothesis through multiple regression analysis which shows that the Sig value = 0.000 and Fcount = 30.390 while Ftable = 3.956 so that the Sig value is <0.05 and Fcount > Ftable. (2). There is a significant influence on self-efficacy and understanding of natural science concepts. This is proven by the results of testing the hypothesis through multiple regression analysis which shows that the value of Sig = 0.000 and tcount = 2.341 while ttable = 1.667 so that the value of Sig <0.05 and tcount > ttable. (3) There is a significant influence of discipline and understanding of natural science concepts. This is proven by the results of hypothesis testing through multiple regression analysis which shows that the value of Sig = 0.000 and tcount = 4.352 while ttable = 1.667 so Sig < 0.05 and tcount > ttable . This has the implication that to improve understanding of science concepts it is necessary to pay attention to student self-efficacy and discipline because it is proven in this research that students with high self-efficacy and discipline have better learning outcomes.
