Abstract

The Effects of Motivation and Self – Confindence on Student’s Math Learning Outcomes of SMPN 248 Jakarta. This study aims to determine the effect of motivation and self – confidence on student learning outcomes. The research hypotheses tested include: 1) The effect of motivation and confidence together on students’ math learning outcomes; 2) The effect of learning motivation on students’ math learning outcomes; 3) The effect of self – confidence on students’ math learning outcomes. The research was conducted using survey method. The population of this study were 8th grade students of SMPN 248 Jakarta with a sample size of 90 students, with the sampling technique used was cluster sampling and simple random sampling. The research instruments used in the study, namely questionnaires and first semester report cards. Data analysis using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of hypothesis testing obtained the following conclusions: 1) There is a significant effect of learning motivation and self – confidence together on the mathematics learning outcomes of students of SMPN 248 Jakarta. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. value = 0,001 < 0,05 and Fcount = 7,186; 2) There is a significant effect of learning motivation on the mathematics learning outcomes of students of SMPN 248 Jakarta. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. value = 0,041 < 0,05 and tcount = 2,079; 3) There is an insignificant effect of self – confidence on the mathematics learning outcomes of students of SMPN 248 Jakarta. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. value = 0,996 > 0,05 and tcount = -0,005. The results of this study are useful for increasing learning motivation, self – confidence, and improving math learning outcomes of students at SMPN 248 Jakarta.
