Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know: 1). The influence of metacognitive and self-concept skills in conjunction with understanding mathematical concepts. 2). Influence of metacognitive ability to understand mathematical concepts. 3). Effect of self concept on understanding mathematical concepts This method of study uses a survey method. Sample of 85 students taken with the propotional and simple random sampling technique of grade VIII students SMP Negeri in Tangerang regency. Data collection is carried out with poll and multiple choice questions. Data analysis with descriptive statistical methods, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Test statistic used test F. Results showed; 1). There is a significant influence on the ability of Metakognitif and self concept together to understand the concept of mathematics of Junior High School in Tangerang Regency. This is evidenced by the value of Sig = 0.000 < 0.05 and F count = 48,349. 2). There is a significant influence of metacognitive ability to understand the mathematical concept of junior high school students in Tangerang Regency. This is evidenced by the value of Sig = 0.000 < 0.05 and t count = 6,353. 3). There is a significant influence on the concept of self concepts in understanding the mathematics of junior high school students in Tangerang Regency. This is evidenced by the value of Sig = 0.000 < 0.05 and t count= 3,778. To improve the understanding of mathematical concepts. Thus, the ability of metacognitive and self-concept can affect the understanding of the concept of learning mathematics.
