Abstract


The aim of this research was to analyze the effect simultaneousely and partially of numerical ability and attitudes of students on mathematics to cognitive competence Mathematics, especially students of SMP Negeri in Tangerang City. There was a positive and significant influence of the influence of numerical ability and attitudes of students on mathematics to cognitive competence mathematics. The method used in this research was survey with correlation and regression analysis, that is by connecting between data showing numerical ability and student attitudes on mathematics with data showing students' cognitive competence in mathematics lesson. Data about numerical ability variable is obtained through direct written test to the respondent which was prepared by the researcher in the form of multiple choice questions. Data on students 'attitudes to mathematics is obtained through a questionnaire prepared by researchers, which measures things related to students' attitudes to mathematics. While the data about cognitive competence of mathematics is obtained through direct written test to the respondent which is prepared by the researcher in the form of question of multiple choice. From the result of data analysis of penetilian, it can be concluded that: (1) there is a significant influence of numerical ability and student attitude on mathematics to cognitive competence of Mathematics of Junior High School students in Tangerang City; (2) there is a significant influence of numerical ability to cognitive competence of Mathematics of Junior High School students in Tangerang City. and (3) there was significant influence of student attitude on mathematics to cognitive competence of SMP Negeri Mathematics students in Tangerang City, this is proved by Sig = 0,000 <0,05 and tcount = 3,928
