Abstract


This research aims to determine (1) the direct effect of parental social support on the scientific literacy at private vocational school students in Bogor Regency. (2) the direct effect of curiosity on the scientific literacy at private vocational school students in Bogor Regency. (3) the direct effect of parental social support on the curiosity at private vocational school students in Bogor Regency. (4) the indirect effect of parental social support through curiosity on scientific literacy at private vocational school students in Bogor Regency. The sample in this study was 80 students taken by random sampling. Data analysis technique used is path analysis, the results of the research show that there is a significant direct influence of parental social support on scientific literacy with a value of Sig = 0.000 < 0.05 and t-value = 3.946. There is a significant direct effect of curiosity on scientific literacy. with a value of Sig = 0.000 <0.05 and t-value = 7.656. There is a significant direct effect of parental social support on curiosity with a value of Sig = 0.000 < 0.05 and t-value = 10.870. There is a significant indirect effect of parental social support through curiosity on scientific literacy with a value of t-value = 6.337 > t-table = 1.991, as an implication of this research, that increasing scientific literacy can be done by increasing parental social support and/or curiosity
