The Effect of Numeracy Ability and Self-Efficacy on Science Literacy

Abstract


Abstract: The aims of this study are to 1) Determine the effect of numeracy skills and self-efficacy together on the scientific literacy of public high school students in Bekasi City. 2) Find out the effect of numeracy skills on scientific literacy of public high school students in Bekasi City. 3) Determine the effect of Self-Efficacy on the scientific literacy of public High School students in Bekasi City. The research was conducted using a survey method. The population chosen by the researcher was 10 grade students who attended public high school in Bekasi City. The sample used in this study amounted to 87 students. Population and sample were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of testing the hypothesis obtained conclusions 1) There is a significant influence of numeracy abilities and self-efficacy together on the scientific literacy of public high school students in Bekasi City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of sig score= 0.000 <0.05 and Fcount = 9,138 > Ftable = 3.105. 2) There is a significant effect of numeracy skills on the scientific literacy of public high school students in Bekasi City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of sig score = 0.002 <0.05 and tcount = 3.198 > ttable = 1,663. 3) There is a significant effect of self-efficacy on the scientific literacy of public High School students in Bekasi City students. This is evidenced by the acquisition of sig score = 0.032 <0.05 and tcount = 2.193 > ttable = 1,663. The implication of this study is that if numeracy skills and self-efficacy are high, students' scientific literacy will be better.
