Abstract


A quiet and comfortable environment is an important need, especially in libraries to support learning and research activities and ensure conducive conditions for visitors. Therefore, this study aims to develop a fuzzy logic-based noise detection system to monitor and manage noise levels in the library. The system uses a noise sensor connected to an Arduino Nano microcontroller to measure sound intensity in decibels (dB). The data obtained is then processed using fuzzy logic involving fuzzification, fuzzy inference, and defuzzification processes, to determine the noise level and provide recommendations for quiet, noisy, and very noisy actions. This study uses two test scenarios, scenario I, which is a test with the number of people and scenario II, which is a test based on the original situation in the library. The test results show that the noise detection system is able to classify noise based on the predetermined fuzzy interval, namely if the noise is in the range of <40 dB, the system categorizes quiet conditions, noise in the range of >40 dB and <70 dB is included in the noisy category, while if the noise level is >70 dB to <200 dB, it is included in the very noisy category. The result of this system is then through a defuzzification process that produces an output in the form of real actions in the form of warning sounds according to the fuzzy category.
