Abstract


PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces motor chains with the SCZ model, featuring 90-link and 92-link variants as its flagship products. This model faces high yet fluctuating demand, creating challenges in inventory and production management. To overcome demand uncertainty, an effective production planning and inventory control strategy is needed to ensure optimal product availability while minimizing storage costs and the risk of stockouts. This research aims to analyze demand patterns and design an adaptive and efficient inventory management strategy to enhance the company's responsiveness and competitiveness. The strategy applied involves Forecasting and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) by comparing the most optimal lot sizing techniques, including Lot for lot, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and Periodic Order Quantity (POQ). The results show that the most appropriate lot sizing technique for both chain models is Lot for lot, with six material orders per year. This technique resulted in lower total costs compared to the others, amounting to IDR 83,666,228 for SCZ-90 and IDR 83,898,890 for SCZ-92. The implementation of this strategy is expected to increase the company's long-term profitability.
