Development of Ethnomathematics-Based Test Instrument to Measure Critical Thinking Ability Munawarah, Munawarah; IAIN Bone Novianty, Rina Nur, Fitriani Mattoliang, Lisnasari Andi Thalhah, Sitti Zuhaerah Critical thinking, Ethnomathematics, Test Instrument, Tessmer In an effort to improve one's critical thinking skills through mathematics, of course, an instrument or special material is needed to measure critical thinking skills, one of which is through an ethnomathematics-based test instrument. This research is research and development (R&D), which involves developing test instruments with the formative research model (Tessmer). This development goes through two stages, namely preliminary and self-evaluation stages. The research was conducted on 4th-semester students who had studied mathematical economics. Validation sheets, tests, and questionnaires were used to collect data. The data collected were analysed using question validity analysis, student and lecturer response analysis, and test quality analysis, including reliability, difficulty level, and differentiability. At the same time, the critical thinking skills of students will be analysed descriptively. The results of this development obtained ethnomathematics-based test instruments that meet the criteria for validity, reliability, differentiability, difficulty level, and practicality according to standards. Thus, ethnomathematics-based test instruments are feasible to use to measure students' critical thinking skills. The results showed that there were three different perspectives on teaching mathematics reading, i.e., important and effective, important but less effective, and important but ineffective. The teachers in the first category tended to use teaching strategies that involved both teachers’ and students’ activities, while they preferred textbooks that provided complete and detailed discussions of contents. The teachers in the second category tended to use strategies that mostly involved teachers’ activities, while they did not show a specific preference for textbook characteristics. The teachers in the last category stated that they had never applied reading mathematics strategies in their classes. They preferred mathematics textbooks that discuss contents briefly and provide many exercises. The Effectiveness of The Song-Assisted Discovery Learning Model on Science Learning Outcomes at Sragen 06 State Elementary School Wati, Putri Sih Fanta; Semarang State University Sutikno, Putri Yanuarita; Semarang State University Education learning outcomes; science; discovery learning model This study aims to test the effectiveness of the song-assisted Discovery Learning learning model for science students’ learning outcomes. This happened because students still needed clarification about sorting digestive organs. This study uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The population of this study is grade V students of Sragen 6 State Elementary School, Sragen Regency, with a total of 62 students. Sampling was conducted with saturated samples, with 25 V-A students as the control class, 25 V-B students as the experimental class, and 12 as the instrument trial. The data collection techniques used are written tests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using prerequisite tests include instrument validity and reliability, initial data analysis with normality and homogeneity tests, and final data analysis using t-test and n-gain test. The study results showed a positive effectiveness of using the discovery learning model with an increase in the learning outcomes of grade V students; the calculation value was more significant than the table (3,767 > 2,012). H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted, meaning there is a difference in learning outcomes between the pretest and posttest in learning using the Discovery Learning learning model. Based on the above analysis, the posttest results show that the learning outcomes between the experimental class are higher than those of the control class. The difference is due to the treatment difference between the experimental and control classes. This study concludes that the discovery learning learning model effectively improves the learning outcomes of grade V students of Sragen 6 State Elementary School. The suggestion for this study is that teachers need to apply the discovery learning model as one of the innovative learning models to improve student learning outcomes.  Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Indraprasta PGRI 2024-10-28 info:eu-repo/semantics/article info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion Peer-reviewed Article application/pdf https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/24830 10.30998/formatif.v14i2.24830 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 14, No 2 (2024): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 14, No 2 (2024): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA 2502-5457 2088-351X 10.30998/formatif.v14i2 eng https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/24830/7113 Copyright (c) 2024 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0

School and Student Well-being: Effects on Biology Learning Engagement Patricia, Putri; Universitas Sriwijaya Meilinda, Meilinda; Scopus ID: 57196089337 - Universitas Sriwijaya Destiansari, Elvira; Universitas Sriwijaya Nisrina, Nur Salwa; Universitas Sriwijaya Kurniawan, Dedi; Universitas Sriwijaya school well-being; student well-being; student engagement; biology learning Well-being is closely linked to prosocial behaviour and mental health. However, research on the impact of school and student well-being on student engagement—specifically in the context of learning biology at schools with varying accreditation levels—remains limited. This study aims to examine the influence of school and student well-being on student engagement in biology learning at senior high schools with A, B, and C accreditation. Using a quantitative, correlational approach, this study employs multiple linear regression analysis to interpret and statistically analyse data from a sample of 177 students. The results reveal that both school and student well-being significantly impact student engagement in biology, regardless of the school’s accreditation level. This suggests that irrespective of accreditation, students' engagement is significantly enhanced when classrooms provide safe, comfortable conditions, positive social interactions, and supportive teachers. Furthermore, while schools with different accreditation levels may vary in resources, fulfilling essential well-being components, such as a caring and supportive environment, contributes to sustained student engagement. The findings of this study are intended to guide schools, teachers, and stakeholders in prioritising well-being to foster higher student engagement in classroom settings. Comparison of the Advantages of Brain-Based Learning and Scientific in Terms of Student’s Mathematical Literacy and Self-Efficacy Lestari, Dian Endang; Yogyakarta State University Widjajanti, Djamilah Bondan; Yogyakarta State University Brain-Based Learning, Scientific, Mathematical Literacy, Self-efficacy The purpose of the research was to compare the benefits of scientific models and brain-based learning (BBL) with reference to junior high school students' mathematical literacy and self-efficacy. This kind of study is a quasi-experiment. In order to understand more about the system of linear equations with two variables, the study was carried out between July and August of 2024. All Class VIII pupils from a public junior high school in Yogyakarta made up the study's population. Two-class samples were chosen at random. Mathematical literacy test questions and a self-efficacy questionnaire were the tools used. Both tools are trustworthy and legitimate—an independent sample T-test was conducted after the data analysis method using Manova with T2 Hotelling test statistics. The sample data must originate from a multivariate normal distributed population with the same variance-covariance matrix, according to the Manova assumption. The findings of the research, which used ?=5%, demonstrated that BBL outperformed the scientific method in terms of average self-efficacy and mathematical literacy scores as well as when examined per indicator of both variables.  Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Indraprasta PGRI 2025-02-28 info:eu-repo/semantics/article info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion Peer-reviewed Article application/pdf https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/26481 10.30998/formatif.v15i1.26481 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 15, No 1 (2025): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 15, No 1 (2025): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA 2502-5457 2088-351X 10.30998/formatif.v15i1 eng https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/26481/7412 Copyright (c) 2025 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0

Mathematics Learners’ Performance and Academic Achievement at a Public High School Institution in Leyte, Philippines Cabuquin, Jomar Cobacha; Eastern Visayas State University Abocejo, Ferdinand Tesado; Eastern Visayas State University Mathematics education; teaching and learning; pedagogy; educational management Academic Achievement; Comparative; Correlational; Junior High School Learners; Mathematics Performance This study examined the correlation between mathematics performance and academic achievement of junior high school learners in a government-run laboratory high school institution and compared the mathematics performance and academic achievement of male and female learners. Correlational and comparative research designs were employed to analyze the gathered secondary data. Findings revealed a positive and highly significant correlation between the learners' mathematics performance and academic achievement, indicating that high school learners who are adept in mathematics tend to succeed and perform better in their academic courses. Whereas low performance in mathematics correspondingly connotes low achievement in overall academic abilities. No significant difference was found between male and female learners, suggesting that both genders of learners can succeed academically. The study concludes that mathematics performance and academic achievement go hand in hand, while gender does not affect the learners' ability to excel in mathematics. Effectively, secondary learning institutions must provide mathematics learners with learning opportunities during Mathematics classes and classroom activities regardless of gender. Teachers must help learners understand how to solve problems and think critically, expose them to real-world applications, and build their confidence and motivation to excel academically.  Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Indraprasta PGRI 2023-09-14 info:eu-repo/semantics/article info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion Peer-reviewed Article application/pdf https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/17235 10.30998/formatif.v13i2.17235 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 13, No 2 (2023): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 13, No 2 (2023): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA 2502-5457 2088-351X 10.30998/formatif.v13i2 eng https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/17235/5982 Copyright (c) 2023 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0

Fostering Self-efficacy for Future Physics Teachers: Recommendation of Future Direction of Teacher Education Institutions Efwinda, Shelly; Universitas Mulawarman Haryanto, Zeni; Mulawarman University Sulaeman, Nurul Fitriyah; Mulawarman University Physics Education self-efficacy, pre-service physics teachers, policy Self-efficacy in teaching is essential for pre-service teachers, and its development needs to be started as soon as possible. This research is descriptive research that aims to recommend policies that can be carried out by universities, faculties, and study programs related to the development of pre-service physics teachers' self-efficacy in teaching. The research participants were 113 pre-service physics teachers in one of the teacher education institutions in Indonesia. The research instrument used was an open-ended question questionnaire totaling eight questions, which explores self-efficacy in three aspects, namely general definitions, influencing factors, and lecture activities that can increase teaching self-efficacy. The answers of pre-service physics teachers are grouped based on the study program's authority, faculty, or university. The results show that self-efficacy in teaching is influenced mainly by 1) the mastery experiences, 2) the mastery of content knowledge, 3) social persuasion, and 4) the mastery of pedagogical knowledge. Based on these results, it is necessary to have a policy by the Universities, Faculties, and Study Programs related to the development of self-efficacy in teaching. Policies needed from universities and faculties are to increase the number and length of teaching practice for pre-service teachers. The policy required from the study program is self-efficacy integration in courses, especially courses related to teaching practice. In addition, the study program also needs to make rules or guidelines for lecturers who teach subjects related to teaching practice courses, to provide feedback and reflection, and strengthen teaching practice activities for pre-service teachers. The Effectiveness of the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) on Students’ Science Process Skills among 7-Grade Students Dela Cerna, Justo Retuya; SOUTHERN LEYTE STATE UNIVERSITY Langub, Marie Khul Cabalo; Southern Leyte State University Social and behavioral sciences Keywords: dynamic learning program, science process skills, learning activity sheets This study looks into the effect of the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) through the use of a Learning Activity Sheet in improving the science process skills of Grade 7 students in a rural secondary school in the Philippines. A mixed-method quasi-experimental design was utilised, with 47 students in each group, the experimental group exposed to the DLP and a control group following traditional teaching methods. Pre-tests and post-tests measured students' proficiency in the science process skills (SPS): observing, classifying, communicating, measuring, inferring, experimenting, and predicting. Results showed that the experimental group demonstrated significant improvements in classification, communication, and measurement skills, while other skills, such as observation and experimentation, showed minimal to no improvements. The thematic analysis of reflective journals shows positive student perceptions of the Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) used in the DLP, emphasising the ease of use, increased engagement during class, and a sense of responsibility in learning. Students in the experimental group expressed a preference for LAS over traditional notebooks, citing the structured format and the clear, task-oriented approach that promoted independent learning. Although there are some limitations in terms of SPS improvement, the study concludes that DLP is an effective strategy for enhancing science process skills, particularly in schools with very limited resources. It was further recommended that future research focus on optimising DLP to improve skills such as observation, inference, and experimentation.  Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Indraprasta PGRI 2025-02-28 info:eu-repo/semantics/article info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion Peer-reviewed Article application/pdf https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/25576 10.30998/formatif.v15i1.25576 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 15, No 1 (2025): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 15, No 1 (2025): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA 2502-5457 2088-351X 10.30998/formatif.v15i1 eng https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/25576/7415 Copyright (c) 2025 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0

The Students’ Misconceptions in Using Three-tier Multiple Choice Diagnostic Test on the Angle Relationships Muryani, Desfi Ida; Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta Jana, Padrul; SCOPUS ID: 57212465049, Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta. Umasugi, Sitti Mutia; Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta Misconceptions, conceptual understanding, three-tier Understanding the concept is one ability that students must master in learning mathematics because concepts in mathematics are related to each other. Based on the result of observation, it showed that not all students had a good conceptual understanding. Another finding reported that students had met the criteria for understanding concepts, not understanding concepts, and having misconceptions. The conditions where students experience misconceptions needto be considered because the misconception is a condition in which students use a concept that is not following the agreement of the expert with full confidence in the correctness of the concept. If misconception is allowed, it will affect the following concepts. This study aimed to determine the process and results of the analysis of student misconceptions and determined the causes of student misconceptions. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative with the number of subjects as many as 20 students. Data collection used a diagnostic test in the form of three-level multiple-choice questions and interview results. The methodused a test,an interview, and documentation. The steps in the data analysis of this research included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The validity test of the data used triangulation, namely, comparing the test results with the interview result. The research resultsshowed that there were students' misconceptions in the low and medium-level understanding group. Meanwhile, students in the high conceptual understanding group found False Positive criteria where false positives were parts of the misconception. However, in this study, the false positives were caused by students' inaccuracy in answering the questions. The causes of student misconceptions included using the concept of angles that were not following the agreement of the experts; applying angles with the wrong concept; wrong in interpreting images or just seeing based on images; wrong in algebraic addition arithmetic operations; wrongly applying the concept of angles in triangles, and not being careful in solving algebraic equations. <w:LsdException Locked= Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Indraprasta PGRI LPPM Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta 2022-03-30 info:eu-repo/semantics/article info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion Peer-reviewed Article application/pdf https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/9641 10.30998/formatif.v12i1.9641 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 12, No 1 (2022): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA; Vol 12, No 1 (2022): Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA 2502-5457 2088-351X 10.30998/formatif.v12i1 eng https://journal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/Formatif/article/view/9641/4689 Copyright (c) 2022 Formatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan MIPA http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0

The Relationship between Mathematics Score and Mathematics Anxiety among Biology Education Students Tanujaya, Benidiktus; Scopus ID: 57196944272 - University of Papua Mumu, Jeinne; Universitas Papua Biology Education Mathematics Anxiety, Correlation and Regression, Biology Education Students need to be anxiety-free when it comes to mathematics. This phenomenon is an unpleasant sensation that interferes with someone's ability to communicate well with mathematics. Although several studies have investigated the relationship between mathematics anxiety and mathematics proficiency, none have explored the effect of mathematics anxiety on individual students' mathematics scores, particularly in biology education students. A correlational analysis was performed with quantitative research methods to explore the association between mathematics scores and mathematics anxiety. 68 participants were recruited for the study, using non-probability sampling, voluntarily and purposively. A student's mathematics anxiety was assessed using a mathematical anxiety scale. The data were analyzed by correlation and regression analysis to determine whether mathematics anxiety was associated with student success. The mathematical model is the best approximation of the relationship between variables described by the equation (3.6 + 0.0 A1 - 0.5 A2 - 1.6 A3 - 2.3 A4 - 2.9 A5). The results suggest that poor mathematics skills increase with levels of anxiety. Students with the least amount of anxiety are predicted to get passing grades of A and B, whereas those with more anxiety are likely to get lower grades of D and E. Recent One Decade Trends in Mathematical Representation Research: Systematic Mapping Study Nizaruddin, Nizaruddin; Universitas PGRI Semarang Murtianto, Yanuar Hery Muhtarom, Muhtarom Mathematics, Representation, Systematic Mapping Study Research can change over time and can be influenced by technological developments, educational trends, and current social issues. Developments on trends in mathematical representation research over the past 10 years are discussed in  this  systematic mapping study (SMS). The question of review research with the systematic mapping study method is how the trend of mathematical representation research over the last 1 decade and what new topics have the opportunity to be researched by future researchers related to the themes of mathematical representation. The method used in this review is the PRISMA method which includes 5 stages carried out: 1) defining eligibility criteria, 2) determining information sources, 3) data selection, 4) data collection, and 5) data collection. In  this systematic mapping study,  it starts from searching for articles on the topic of mathematical representation during the last 1 decade, namely the range of 2013-2023, articles obtained from the scopus database in July 2023 with the keywords "representations" AND : Mathematics" initial data obtained 1907 articles after the exclusion process obtained 120 articles which were then analyzed using R-Studio and Vos-Viewer tools. The results of SMS obtained the relationship of representation topics in the last 10 years of research with the topics of  visual, computer software, computer aid instruction, data mining, open source software, network architecture, natural language processing systems, intelligent systems and information analysis. In addition, research over the past 1 decade on the topic of representation has led more to  data mining, security of data and STEM. Artificial Intelligence or artificial intelligence is the latest topic that over the past 3 years has grown in various articles that deal with the theme of mathematical representation and accompanied by the theme of multi-representation. The evolution of research topics related to mathematical representations that used to be only related to visual representations and image representations now leads to computer programs, programming algorithms and artificial intelligence, this shows that over the past 1 decade there has been an evolution of research in the implementation of representations in technology. An Analysis of Students’ Computational Thinking Skills on The Number Patterns Lesson during The Covid-19 Pandemic Rosali, Dwi Fitriani; Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Suryadi, Didi; Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Mathematics Education Computational thinking, Number Patterns, Covid-19 The development of the education curriculum in Indonesia makes students must have skills so that they can compete globally, especially in the 21st century. The development is closely related to technology and information. One of skills that support the development of technology and information is the computational thinking skills. This study aims to analyze students’ computational thinking skills on the number patterns lesson during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study was qualitative-descriptive research with the subjects of 4 students from 8th grade in Makassar. The instruments used in this study were a test of the computational thinking skills in the form of essay type test on the number patterns lesson and interview guidance. The results of this study indicated that all subjects met the first indicator of problem decomposition and one subject met the second indicator of problem decomposition, all subjects met the indicator of pattern recognition, three subjects met the indicator of abstraction and generalization, all subjects met the first indicator of algorithmic thinking and two subjects met the second indicator of algorithmic thinking on computational thinking skills. Thus, students’ computational thinking skills during the Covid-19 pandemic were still low, so an educational framework is needed to improve students’ computational thinking skills. The Effect of Realistic Mathematics Education Implementation in Mathematics Learning in Elementary School Samritin, Samritin; Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton Natsir, Siti Rahmalia; Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton Manaf, Abdul; Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton Sari, Eka Rosmitha; Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton Mathematics Education experiment, math education Until now, mathematics is still a difficult subject for students.  This is one of the implications of the abstract nature of mathematics. For this reason, mathematics learning is designed in such a way by bringing mathematics closer to the real-life context and student experience. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) is an alternative learning approach that is able to reduce the gap between abstract mathematics and real life. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental method that aims to test the effectiveness of RME in mathematics learning in elementary schools. The study used one group pretest-post test design. A study sample of N = 19 was selected from class V of SD Negeri 2 Labalawa, Baubau City. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics  and  non-parametric inferential statistics. The results showed that the average gain score of pretests and post-tests reached 44.09 with a Standard Error of Mean of 3,763 and 4,811, respectively. The test results of the average difference between the pretest and post-test were declared significant at a confidence level of 95% or ?=0.05. The indication is indicated by a Mann-Whitney test value of 23,000 with a2-tailed asymptotic fiancy value of 0.000 < 0.05. The results of the data analysis of this study concluded that the implementation of RME has a significant effect  on mathematics  learning outcomes  in elementary schools. The results of this study have positive implications for changing the teaching style  and  learning style of students  from teacher oriented to students oriented.
